Welcome to the #WoodlandSpringCAL
Thank you for joining us on this magical woodland adventure! If you haven’t officially signed up for the Crochet Along (CAL) yet and found your way here through our newsletter, be sure to sign up to receive all the CAL patterns straight to your inbox.
A Quick History of Our Spring CAL
Our Spring CAL journey began in March 2023, when we (and our friend Huckleberry Hollow Crochet) finally built up the courage to fulfill a longstanding crochet goal and invited a group of fellow ami designers to join us in hosting a crochet-along named Woodland Spring. That CAL featured a pack of woodland creatures — a fox, a bear, a badger, a fawn, a raccoon, an owl, and a wolf — shaking off the sleepiness of a long dreary winter. (When we tell you it was cute as all heck, please believe us!)
In 2024, we hosted a solo CAL called Sprouting Spring which featured 2 patterns from our fredible series (first published in the amigurumi supplement of Simply Crochet issue 134). While hosting a solo crochet along was a bit easier, we really missed seeing the diverse creativity that comes from a group of designers all interpreting the same prompt in their own unique ways. We are thrilled to have the chance to work with a group of amazing designers again this year!

Our CAL pattern, Fausto the Worried Waterfowl, was designed with Yarn and Colors Must-Have, a 100% cotton, sport-weight yarn. Keep and eye out for the full supply list on March 21!

Who Is in the CAL?!?
This year’s talented lineup of designers includes PracowniaBlask, I Dilly Dally, Little Seal Designs, Chaos Aunty, and us—Freddy Goat! Since we all bring our own unique style and sense of humor to pattern writing, you can expect this line up of amis to be memorable/adorable/goofy/surprising/and so on!
If you want to get to know any of us better, follow us on the gram and see what we are into!

How Does It Work?
On Week 1 (Friday, March 21) we will unveil the pattern materials list and a sneak peek of each delightful design. Make sure to sign up for the CAL by then so you don’t miss a thing! After that, a new pattern from a different designer will be released every Friday (see the order below).
Freddy Goat is kicking the CAL off with our silly woodland-inspired pattern, Fausto the Worried Waterfowl. Fausto will be available to download starting March 28 (Week 2) right here!
Participants will receive information about the other patterns directly from each designer via email, so be sure to sign up for the CAL using our sign up form to stay in the loop and not miss any of the fun! Please Share Your Makes!!!
The best part of a CAL is seeing what you create. From a designer’s perspective, it’s incredibly exciting to watch how different minds and hands interpret our patterns and add their own personal touch. More than anything, we want to see what you make during this crochet-along! Please tag the designer and the CAL account @woodland.spring.cal and use the hashtag #woodlandspringCAL so we can all admire your creations!
Thank you so so much for crocheting with us! Get in touch with the designer or CAL accounts any time if you need help with a pattern!

Looking for Yarn?
We wrote this pattern in Yarn and Color Must-Have, a 100% cotton, sport-weight yarn. This yarn is great to work with and comes in a zillion beautiful colors. (We especially appreciate their range of yellows, oranges, and terra cottas).
Full disclosure: The link above is an affiliate link. If you purchase yarn with it, we will get a small commission with no extra cost to you — a win win!
Gauge
Gauge isn’t terribly important in amigurumi, so it is okay to use a slightly larger hook if that is all you have. However, you don’t want to see stuffing through the stitches, so don’t get too big.
